Winter Fantasy Weekend Warriors: Adventure Club

artist adventure clubWe can’t wait for our mini-vacation on Monday, December 30th as Hidalgo’s third annual Winter Fantasy featuring deadmau5 (unhooked) takes over the State Farm Arena (outdoors).

Even though we won’t be walking in a winter wonderland for another few weeks, that doesn’t mean our weekends won’t keep pounding. We’ll be bringing you three mixes every week from an artist on our roster to help get you pumped for the upcoming event.

This week’s weekend warrior(s) is Québecois duo Adventure Club. Finishing up their massive nationwide tour, the two are still celebrating the release of their Calling All Heroes EP. Here are three sets that are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what you might expect to hear from the boys at Winter Fantasy.

Tickets are still available online so grab yours before it’s too late.

Superheroes Anonymous Mix Volume 1

The boys originally debuted this mix on This Song Slaps earlier this year. To call this mix eclectic would be an understatement. Featuring some classic tunes revamped, we’re digging the “Sun and Moon” remix and the cameo from Gesaffelstein’s “Control Movement.”

Superheroes Anonymous Mix Volume 2

This Superheroes Anonymous volume also premiered on This Song Slaps. For this particular mix, the boys do an amazing job of creating a jam-packed mix full of various genres from beginning to end. With a tracklist that features some familiar friends like Winter Fantasy artists GTA and of course a long list of tracks from the boys themselves, this mix will get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday event.

Superheroes Anonymous Mix Volume 3

Armed with red capes and spandex, this mix is a snapshot of the tracks that the boys were playing out over the summer. Always testing varied BPMs, this mix ventures into big room house, trap, all while staying true to their dubstep roots. This mix also features their recent smash single “Gold.”

Join Steve Aoki and Alive Entertainment to Benefit Typhoon Haiyan Relief

In celebration of his 36th birthday, Steve Aoki has pledged to match up to $36,000 in donations to the non-profit organization Music for Relief to benefit the victims of Typhoon Haiyan Relief. Why $36,000? $1,000 for each year he’s been alive.
Those who want to help can start their own fundraising page on Crowdrise. The person who raises the most for the relief efforts by December 20th will win an all-expense paid trip to see Steve on New Year’s Eve for his performance in Cancun, México. The promoter for the show, Alive Entertainment, is also donating an additional $10,000 to the cause. Alive Entertainment is a leading electronic dance music promoter in Mexico and also Disco Donnie Presents partner in the region. That means that with your help, up to $82,000 (Steve’s match of $72,000 + $10,000) will go to the Philippines to provide urgent medical treatment, medicine, and supplies to the survivors of the typhoon.

Typhoon Haiyan was the strongest storm to make landfall in recorded history. The Philippines have been struck with widespread flooding and destruction and more than 9.5 million people have been affected in the nine regions across the country. Anyone can donate to the cause and no donation is too small. Every dollar will be matched by Steve and the funds will help International Medical Corps provide life-saving medical treatment on the ground with an emphasis on water, sanitation and disease prevention efforts.

Adventure Club donates $7,000 to F*ck Cancer

artist adventure clubBack in August, Québecois superheroes Adventure Club teamed up with dance music clothing retailer Electric Family to release a custom series of Adventure Club wristbands. These aren’t ordinary fan wristbands though. The red and blue threaded bracelet is giving fans the opportunity to be real life superheroes. Each product sold directly benefits F*ck Cancer, a Canadian-based charity whose purpose, though could inferred to by the title, is to educate youth and adults about cancer.

To date, with the aid of their fans, Adventure Club has been able to donate over $7,000 from bracelet sales to the organization. Due to popular demand, the bands were temporarily sold out, but not anymore. Head over to Electric Family and grab your Adventure Club wristband today. Be sure to wear yours at Winter Fantasy!

Showtek’s ‘Booyah’ reaches #1 in South Africa

artist showtek
The brothers Showtek are on roll. Back in November, we reported the duo’s rise to the top of the UK’s Top 40 with their massive release “Booyah” featuring We Are Load! and Sonny Wilson. Now, the Dutch powerhouse outfit has taken the #1 spot on South Africa’s most popular radio station 5FM. With 5FM being the most popular contemporary music and entertainment platform in the country, it’s safe to say that the brothers are on their way to total world domination.

Venturing outside of their original hardstyle roots, “Booyah” starts differently than the standard four-to-the-floor beat. As you’re grooving to the a half-time beat intro, some massive stab synths greet you that are later joined by the vocals of We Are Loud! and Sonny Wilson. We’re loving this, this reggae-infused big room track – it is definitely festival ready. We’re sure you’ll here it at Winter Fantasy later this month.

Mysteryland to Make Groundbreaking USA Debut this Memorial Day Weekend

The world’s longest-running and groundbreaking dance music festival, Mysteryland, is making its historic US debut this coming Memorial Day weekend from May 23-May 26th at Bethel Wood in New York. The site is home to the legendary 1969 Woodstock festival, thus making Mysteryland’s inaugural American event the first music festival to return to the very grounds where Woodstock took place. “Woodstock represented the music of a new generation and cultural tour de force for the changing times,” says Duncan Stutterheim, founder of Mysteryland’s organizer ID&T, “and today Mysteryland brings together the global forces of dance music for the millennial generation’s revolution.”

Mysteryland has also announced its first musical partner, bringing back the popular party Sunday School which will be hosting its own mini-fest within the land of mystery. With its first party dating back to 2006 at the Winter Music Conference, Made Event’s Sunday School is one of the most regarded techno and house music parties in the industry. It will continue to be so in 2014 as Sunday School will have three dedicated stages and a cross-section of today’s and tomorrow’s future underground stars.

The first US edition of Mysteryland at this iconic location will be an exclusive and special gathering. All of us at Disco Donnie Presents are excited to welcome this groundbreaking event to the SFX Entertainment family. You can sign up now at Mysteryland.us for pre-sale tickets on December 11th. Tickets go on sale date Friday, December 12th at 10AM EST.

Adventure Club donates $7,000 to F*ck Cancer

artist adventure clubOver the summer, Québecois superheroes Adventure Club teamed up with dance music clothing retailer Electric Family to release a series of custom Adventure Club wristbands. These aren’t just your run-in-the-mill fan wristbands though. The threaded red and blue design is one way Cristian and Leighton are giving fans the chance to be superheroes in real life. Every dollar made from the sale of the product will directly benefit Canadian-based charity F*ck Cancer. Their purpose, though it could inferred to by the title, is to educate youth and adults about fighting cancer.

To date, with the aid of their fans, Adventure Club has been able to raise over $7,000 in bracelet sales for the organization. Nom De Strip’s and Congrock’s ‘Minerals’ out now on Ultra Records

artist nom de stripThe long-awaited collaboration of Nom de Strip and Congorock is finally here. The fresh new release, out on Ultra Records, is titled “Minerals” and WARNING: It’s killer. The groovy tribal drum intro will give you the urge to start dancing immediately. The main riff is sinister and somewhat ominous sounding, but in the awesomest, grittiest and dirtiest of ways. And we can’t talk about this song without mentioning the roaring kick drum. Break out the sub woofers for this one. The four-to-the-floor kick just keeps pounding, driving the energy level of this track through the roof.

The song has also been featured in the soundtrack of the recently released EA Sports game Need for Speed Rivals. We think its awesome that you can have a street-racing rivalry between cops and racers to the tune of some banging electro house tracks. You can go out and grab the game, but we’re pretty sure the song would sound better in person. Come hear and dance to “Minerals” at The Gift on Thursday, December 26th.
